I may have mentioned we are looking at getting rid of our sleeper sofa. It is not comfortable to sit on; Maggie is the only one in the family who uses it, sitting on the back to look out the windows. The bed is a bit of a hassle and, being an air mattress, it is cold in the Winter months. With the bed deployed, there really is not much floor space in the living room.
Why is that an issue? Well, during Winter, I simply am too warm in the bedroom. Dave either freezes and I’m comfortable or I’m burning up and he’s snoozing away. Yoinks! There are also times during Spring and Summer, such as race days, when he gets up very early on the weekends; he is very considerate and sleeps in the living room on those eves so I can sleep in.
What I envision is a daybed – a place where one can curl up to read, watch TV, use a laptop and have a bed when needed.

This is actually a twin platform bed with drawer storage underneath. The dimensions look like they will work in the space we have as opposed to an actual daybed frame, all of which so far are too long. The weight should be okay, as this should not weigh any more (and possibly less) than the sofa sleeper. I’m thinking I’d put some big pillows on it and it will be a cozy place and ample for sleeping when needed. Now we just have to get the sleeper sofa sold/out! We may have it sold but are just waiting for the person to make another trip in this area to get it.

Although I keep in touch with my girlfriends for some “gal talk” now and then, we do lead a rather isolative lifestyle – not being in an actual campground and not currently traveling. Working with all guys is great and I have a good time; however, sometimes I just miss the company and conversation of women, and possibly women who can relate to this lifestyle. I found an online group, Women RV, and am having a great time getting to know the group. A big thank you to all the ladies there for making me feel welcome in such a short time!

Latest word is that we will be here for quite some time still. That’s definitely fine with us. Hopefully we can plan a trip this year, even just to Niagara Falls, to move the rig and give us a break. The only traveling the rig got last year was scooting up the street to safety from the roaring river during the hurricane and tropical storm! After all that, we were just too tired to go anyway in the Autumn. “No, really?”

Today was sort of “icky” out and turned gloomy/windy/chilly this afternoon. We’re looking at rain/snow the remainder of the week.

I know a lot of folks don’t care for Facebook and I certainly understand that; however, I have reconnected with so many dear ones from earlier days, including more recently a sister in survivorship whom I met at a Lance Armstrong Foundation function, a girlfriend from my Exxon days (boy, do we share some memories of good single-gal days) and a former Exxon co-worker/friend with whom I also share many great memories and whom I have always respected, admired and been fond of as we became friends.
Say what you will and to each their own, but I value these jewels in my life and am very fortunate to have them in my life once again.

Well, hey, I guess that’s me for this evening. At least I had a couple of things to say for a change.
Thanks for stopping by!
I think a daybed is a great idea. That is what I have...it's my one and only bed. Don't have to setup anything. Just smooth out the cover and fluff the pillows.
ReplyDeleteDid you think about a futon? I have one that is super comfortable.
ReplyDeleteThe sleeper in the Alfa is pretty good. It is comfortable to sit on, and OK for sleeping when opened. I found I was more comfortable lying on it closed up if I took the back pillows off. I spent a night and day on it when I was so sick at the end of our last trip! The only negative is the upholstery is a bit worn and slightly soiled. I don't think it will look better cleaned. I'm thinking of getting a slip cover for it sometime.
