Plans? Us? Travel?
Yes!
This week I made reservations at Old Mill Stream Campground for early June, as we have plans to attend the 2012 Northeast Montana Rally in Lancaster, PA!
During my childhood years, I attended trailer rallies with my parents. They belonged to at least two Houston-area clubs, including this one.
Seems like most months two weekend rallies were on the schedule. During the summers, there were Holiday Rambler National Rallies. I clearly remember one in Bowling Green, KY and another in Cody, WY.
Attending this Montana rally is good on various levels:
- It is in Amish country and should be a pretty area.
- There are bunches of bike shops in the vicinity and a local bike club has routes with maps posted online. These vary in distance and difficulty, so Dave can train like crazy by himself and I can join him for some leisurely rides.
- I get windshield time!
- Our rig gets rolled down the road a bit, if only 100 miles to the rally. Kind of loosen it up and help it remember what the road feels like.
- As it is only about 100 miles from here, we won’t be spending a lot in diesel.
- I get windshield time!
- We have the opportunity to hang out with not only other RVers, but Montana people.
- Aaaahhhh . . . socialization. Ours is a rather isolative environment, which is okay; however, it will be nice to hang with folks who have similar interests and experiences.
- We’ll be gone a week, so it will give us a nice break from work.
- Did I mention I get some windshield time?

On the CPR front, looks like I’ll be conducting two Heartsaver classes a month for the next two to three months for the company we’re contracted to, holding the classes down in Hamilton, NJ at their main office. I’m also offering classes for rally attendees.

Today is very blustery and pretty darn chilly, so it’s a good day to be inside. I’ll get our laundry done and continue working on DST’s Web site and other creative projects I have going on. Sweet!
Have a great day!
Thanks for stopping by!
A working vacation? But still a vacation. It's raining here this morning, we had high winds yesterday, so I stayed put. I'm moving down the road about 50 miles today so I hope the rain lets up a bit later on.
ReplyDeleteYou will love the Lancaster area. Living only two hours away, we went there often. We've camped at Old Mill Stream a few years ago in November! I'll always remember because I kept asking Len if we were okay with propane. Sure he said, without looking. At 5:15 on Friday, we ran out. Temp getting down into 30's at night. Campground propane station closed at 5. Drove all over, could not find any. Two other campers took pity on us and loaned us their electric heaters until the morning.
ReplyDeleteIf we were in the area you bet we would be attending that rally. Make sure you get over to the town of Intercourse to Kitchen Kettle Village. Great salsa, jams, jellies, etc. And watch out for all those Amish buggies!
You get windshield time. Yay!
